What Are Fields?
Fields are used to capture, display, and store metadata within supported applications and workflows. Each page can be configured with its own set of fields to collect the information required for a specific document type, process, or business function.
Fields are available throughout RIA, BCG, DFA, and DPD, and provide a consistent framework for collecting and managing metadata. Depending on the application and configuration, fields may be used for data entry, displaying information, validating user input, performing calculations, retrieving data from external sources, or storing system-generated values.
Fields can be configured with validation rules, mandatory requirements, and conditional logic to help ensure data is captured accurately and consistently. Conditional logic can also be used to show or hide fields based on user selections or the values of other fields.
Metadata captured by fields can be used for searching, reporting, document naming, workflow routing, automated processing, and integration with external systems.
While field functionality is generally consistent across applications, the available field types and configuration options may vary depending on the page and field being configured. Most fields share a common set of settings, while some field types include additional options specific to their purpose.
